A long time ago, when wolves first came to the land, they were jumpy and nervous travellers from faraway places who were searching for a new home. When they first came upon this place, they were hopeful. But so many times before they had had hope, only to be snatched away by something or other that prevented their settlement. Many believed they would never find a home, while others were desperate enough to give up and join the ranks of the Starfall Pack. Nobody believed that this would finally be the end of their tiring journey.
But the Starfall Pack up in the skies knew that this was the perfect home, and hoped that the wolves below would soon come to see this as well. But they were too anxious now, too accustomed to travelling for all their lives to possibly grasp that this was indeed there they were meant to go. the dead ancestors needed a sign, and soon they had a plan to show their descenants that it was finally time to rest.
It was on the eve of the morning that the wolves were planning to leave the lands that someone spotted a strange streak in the night sky. Indeed, it wasn't long until everybody was looking up at the stars; for cascading down to earth was a star, growing brighter and brighter as it neared. And finally, it landed with a crash that shook the earth below their feet. Immediately, all of the wolves ran to investigate the damage, and were shocked to find crumbled remains of a star scattered around a large crater.
And it was then, finally, that the nomad wolves saw the truth that had been all around them for days. This was their home now, and a brave wolf from the sky had sacrificed himself to pass the message to the living. If was at this moment that the wolves gave their dead a name, the Starfall Pack, and named the crater the Starfallen Crater in honor of the star that fell from the sky. Moons later, when healers were first called to be, they saw the crater as what it really was -- a connection to their ancestors. So now at every half-moon they gather here and sleep, to share their dreams with the Starfall Pack.
